Kortright Centre Winter Engagement
Some couples win engagement shoots. Diana and Alex? They made theirs unforgettable.
We met them at Canada’s Bridal Show in Toronto — a total whirlwind of booths, excited couples, and so many wedding dates we lost count. As part of our giveaway, we ended up selecting three winners instead of one (we couldn’t help ourselves), and Diana and Alex were one of the lucky couples who landed a free engagement session.
Their response? Pure excitement.
Our response? Let’s make it snow. ❄️
A Snow-Filled Day at Kortright Centre
Leading up to the shoot, we weren’t sure if winter would come through for us. You never really know in the GTA. But just days before the session, a snowstorm hit — and suddenly Kortright Centre in Vaughan was blanketed in fresh, fluffy snow. The dream was on.
We layered up, packed our gear, and met Diana and Alex at the park for what turned out to be one of the most fun winter engagement shoots we’ve done. From trudging through knee-deep snow (before realizing there was a perfectly clear trail nearby), to full-on snowball antics and some light lens damage from their snow-throwing attempts — the whole day was filled with laughter, movement, and real connection.
They were total troopers. Never once complained about the cold or wet boots. And in the end? We all left soaked, frozen, and smiling.
Why Winter Engagement Shoots Are So Underrated
Sure, winter shoots can be a little chaotic — but the payoff? It’s huge.
Soft natural light (cloudy skies are a secret weapon)
Fresh snow for that bright, clean aesthetic
Way fewer people around = more space to play
Playful energy that turns nervousness into fun
Diana and Alex brought all of that. We didn’t just get beautiful portraits — we got real moments. And we made memories along the way.

Scheduling a winter engagement shoot is always a little tricky - the conditions need to be just right! So many factors have to be taken into consideration, like is there going to be enough snow to capture the essence of a Canadian winter, or is it going to be too cold for comfort. It definitely takes a special couple, like Hema and Dileep, brave and committed, to rock a winter engagement shoot!
o try to choose a location that is meaningful and special to you both as a couple. It could be where you first met, where you had your first date, or where you got engaged.
Do consider local spots you love to visit together, such as coffee shops, markets, or your favourite park to stroll in.
Do remember you can keep it simple and have your shoot done at home for cozy and relaxed photos.
The Fermenting Cellar Wedding - Stephanie and Reilly
Two words that I never thought would go together as well as they do are in fact the perfect description for The Fermenting Cellar wedding of Stephanie & Reilly-James - Industrial Romantic. Distilleries are inherently not the most romantic of places, especially when compared to their counterparts, the Wineries, with their romantic couples’ getaways to vineyards where couples sample the most popular elixir of lovers.
