Bonfire Engagement Session
There are engagement shoots that feel like a walk in the park — and then there are shoots like this one, where the park, the sunset, the firelight, and the couple all align to create something kind of magical.
When Emille and Kleber told us they wanted an outdoor spot that felt a little wild and offbeat — somewhere with a killer sunset and a touch of city skyline — we knew exactly where to go: Humber Bay Park. It’s one of our all-time favorite places for engagement photography in Toronto. With a mix of lake views, tall grasses, and skyline peeks, it’s a total dream (especially at golden hour). And fun fact — this session was actually inspired by another shoot we did there with Patricia and Gavin, whose photos had the same vibe: candid, romantic, and very Toronto.
Let’s Set the Scene: Brazilian Love Story in the 6ix
Emille and Kleber are from Brazil, and right away we could tell they had that chill, affectionate energy — the kind of couple that plays, laughs, and cuddles like no one’s watching. That playful vibe made the idea of a bonfire shoot even more exciting. We pitched it. They were 100% in. 🔥
So after a stunning golden hour session full of running, laughing, and cozy kisses, we set up a little fire pit right by the water. Out came the marshmallows. Cue the laughter.
And here’s the best part: it was their first time ever roasting marshmallows. Apparently, it’s not really a thing in Brazil. So there we were — three Canadians and two Brazilians, crouched around a tiny fire, balancing sticks, dodging smoke, and laughing way too hard at the gooey mess. (Spoiler: they weren’t super into the taste, but the photos? Worth it.)
Sparklers, Light Painting & That Grand Finale
Once the last of the marshmallows were gone and the sun had fully dipped below the horizon, we pulled out our secret weapon: sparklers.
These light painting photos are always a bit of a gamble. You need darkness, a cooperative couple, a long exposure — and a lot of trust. But Emille and Kleber? They crushed it. Our very first attempt ended up being our favorite — the sparkler trails created a glowing circle of light around them, and the final shot looked like something straight out of a dream. ✨
And when we showed them the back of the camera, their faces lit up. That moment — when a couple sees how epic their love looks — is everything.
