Port Credit Memorial Park Creative Photos
The last time that I shot at Port Credit in Mississauga, was when I was learning photography, more than 10 years ago. There was a studio in Woodbridge that was offering mentorship to photographers who were just starting out, and so there I was. It was an amazing experience to work on enhancing my skills in wedding photography, by having the opportunity to shoot a couple of big weddings with them. At the time, I remember feeling like I had no idea what I was doing as I navigated the couple portraits in Port Credit. At this time, I was still learning about lighting, and the sunshine was especially harsh on this day. I remember feeling intimidated by the bridal party. Now fast-forward to today, and I knew I wasn’t going to have that problem. Lighting is effortless to me — in fact it is my primary inspiration in my photography — and if you’ve met me before, you know that my confidence at managing the entire wedding party and their family is second nature to me. So while this location was special to the couple, it was also very special to me. It was an opportunity to reflect on my growth as a photographer and to create something incredibly special for my couple, Hubert and Vince.
Choosing The Engagement Shoot Location: Port Credit Memorial Park
I love to do engagement photos in a location that is meaningful for the couple. It doesn’t matter where it is! It could be in your parent’s backyard playing hockey, like Alli and Greg did, or even in a college kitchen, the place where Megan and Cole met.
Some places where the couples choose to do their pre wedding photos can be a challenge, but the place where Hubert and Vince used to meet, it was a wonderland for me!
We all know the sunset photos or the golden hour are beautiful and easier to photograph because of the soft lights and warm colors. But I also like to challenge myself sometimes, starting the shoot a little earlier, when the sun still a little rough. That gives me, a lot of opportunity to create with the shadows. And that is something that I have being enjoying quite a lot.
Port Credit Engagement Photos
I had to force myself to stop shooting at Port Credit Memorial Park—I could have spent the whole day there! But we had other fantastic locations lined up, each offering its own charming and romantic vibe.
Hubert and Vince were total pros, bringing along some stylish outfits for each spot. Their colorful ensembles really made them stand out in the photos by the water. I was pleasantly surprised at how natural and at ease they were in front of the camera, which made creating these beautiful memories together even more special.
Sunset at Port Credit
Golden hour is truly the most magical time of the day. With Hubert and Vince in yet another fantastic outfit, we continued exploring and finding stunning photo spots around Port Credit. While the iconic lighthouse is a must-have backdrop, Port Credit offers so many delightful surprises at every turn.
As we kept going, Hubert and Vince grew more relaxed in front of the camera, allowing me to capture some really sweet moments between them.
I highly recommend every couple consider doing an engagement or pre-wedding shoot with their photographer. Not only will you get amazing photos, but it’s also a great chance to get comfortable in front of the camera and help me, as photographer, to understand how much direction the couples need. This is an amazing wedding tip that makes everything smoother on your wedding day.
Starbucks Engagement Photos
As the shoot was winding down, we decided to grab a coffee. I always tell my couples that the session isn’t just about the photos—it’s about the experience. It was extra special because Vince used to manage that very Starbucks, so capturing some photos there added a meaningful touch. Remember, there’s no such thing as a wrong location if it holds significance for you.
Hubert and Vince, thank you so much for an incredible evening. I can’t wait for your wedding this summer at Carl’s Catering.
xoxo 😘.
