Same Sex Pride Wedding at The Millcroft Inn

On our first consultation call, I felt like a were just having a casual chat with old friends, this is how I felt with Dominika and Rachel. It was so nice to hear their love story, and getting to know them just made me more exited for their wedding. And I didn’t even know if they would go with me as their wedding photographer, lol. I am so glad that they did. 😆
The wedding season of 2024 came a bit later than usual for us, but it was so perfect to have the first wedding of the season been on spring. Everything was green and with a lot of flowers at The Millcroft Inn, matching perfectly with Dominika and Rachel pride wedding theme.

Getting Ready at The Millcroft Inn

I love when the couple choose to do the whole day at the same place, Of course is not always possible. This romantic spring wedding at Inn The Millcroft Inn wedding they have everything, for your big day. Having the getting ready, ceremony, couple portraits and reception at the same location, saves so much time and stress, something that for me is very important. For me as a LGBTQ+ wedding photographer, my goal is for the couple to have fun on their wedding day, and the venue that Dom and Reach pick for their big day had all.

When Chelsey and I got to the morning preparation, we could feel the excitement in the air. The happiness of Dom and Reach was contagious, and I loved it! While Chelsey was capturing the wedding details, which was the cutest thing I have ever seen 😍, I was able to capture the couple rurusel for the first dance, and the fear on Dominika’s eyes was clear lol. But you could also see how happy they both were to be there, getting married to each other, making that dream come true.
Guess what happens when you are having too much fun? The time goes way too fast. But we had time to capture so many amazing moments between them two and their friends.
And talking about friends, Dom and Reach had the best people around her, their friends Elaina and Julian made this amazing wedding sign the night before the wedding. What a special gift to give on the wedding day.

Wedding Ceremony at The Millcroft Inn - A Celebration of Love and LGBTQ+ Pride

A couple steps away from the cabins where they got ready was the ceremony, which was incredible decoded with flowers and rainbows, and on the seats, were all the important people that matter to the couple. It was a perfect sunny day, everyone was so full of joy and happy to be a part of that significant, and beautiful moment in Dom and Reach’s life.
Exiting the aisle with bubbles and smiles, all the guesses went flying to hug and congratulate the newlywed couple. But soon after you could hear the crazy photographer, aka me, screaming at everyone to do a group photo with all the guesses. At that point after the ceremony I try to take charge, and make sure we get all the photos that the couple wants, and the big group photos were a request from Dom and Reach. And we nailed! 💪.

Couple Portraits at The Millcroft Inn - The Romantic Backdrop of The Millcroft Inn

The Millcroft Inn was chosen to be Dom and Reach for a reason, that is their annual vacation spot and also where they got engaged. The place with a lot of meaning for them.
On the couple portraits I tried to follow the couple’s mood, I want their photos to reflect the feeling they are having. And the mood after the ceremony was playful, and I was incorporating that on their photos, posing them, but letting them be themselves, and enjoy that moments of intimacy. Their colourful wedding bouquets made my life easier, with so much colours to play around.
But keep reading, because we still are going to talk about the creative photo we did at the Shaw’s Creek Falls that evening.

Reception at The Millcroft Inn - Dominika & Rachel’s Vibrant Wedding Details

The evening was a party from beginning to the end, that was exactly what the Dom and Reach wanted for their wedding day. They made sure that everyone was having fun, specially the kids, OMG! The kids had a blast. The DJ Magic Mike from Impact DJ was on top of every moment, every beat was well thought to make sure all the guess was at the dance floor. The reception was a big party celebrating that special day.
You remember Elaina and Julian, right? They also made a huge balloon arch with the pride colours for the reception decor, it was the perfect spot for the group friends shot during the evening.

The Creative Night Time Photos at Shaw’s Creek Falls

As I mentioned before, Dom and Reach go every year for a walk at the Shaw’s Creek Falls, and they take a selfie there. And also, the falls was one of the reason they chose The Millcroft Inn as their wedding venue. So, I challenge myself to do something different and creative incorporating the Shaw’s Creek Falls.
During the day I kept going to the fall to look and see if I could find some inspiration, and around the reception time, it clicked, “I could do a long exposure with the falls”. Great idea so far, but I had one problem, I had to place my couple somewhere. Luckily they had an old brick arch across the falls, that’s it! Exactly what I needed 😎. Placed Dom and Reach under the arch and then put a flash behind them. With the falls, the couple, the arch, the flash, and the forest behind them, I had all the layers I needed to make the photo interesting. Not only interesting, but an award-winning photo by Inspiration Photographers. We still had time to go into the hoods and create another master peace, that also got awarded.
Later that night, Chelsey had another amazing idea for a nighttime creative photo, using the smoke and a pink flash behind the smoke. And this is how we ended that wonderful day.
Not forget to mention that, Dominica and Rachel’s wedding got a collection award, where we submit 20 photos from same wedding, telling the story of the day.
Dominica and Rachel, thank you so much for making us a part of your special day, can’t wait for our one-year anniversary shoot 😆.
xoxo.

Award-Winning Moment | Fearless Photographers Recognition 🎖️

Award-winning wedding photo of a same-sex couple embracing beside a powerful waterfall, captured by Diego Moura Photography, Fearless Photographers Award Winner.

I have to pause for a second to talk about one of my absolute favorite images from Dominika and Rachel’s wedding day — and honestly, one of the hardest photos I’ve ever created. We were at the stunning waterfall at the Millcroft Inn, and the idea hit me: tuck the couple into this little window in the stone wall while the massive waterfall poured down beside them. It was one of those shots that existed perfectly in my head… but getting it to happen in real life? Totally different story.

The timing had to be just right — the lighting, the exposure, the angle, everything. The water was moving fast, the window was tiny, and we had to get the perfect emotional connection between Dominika and Rachel, while still balancing the technical chaos around us. And you know what? They absolutely crushed it. I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to trust me with such a wild idea.

What makes me even more proud?
This image ended up winning an award from Fearless Photographers, which is honestly one of the toughest international wedding photography competitions out there.
(Fearless Collection 89, for anyone who wants to geek out with me over it: View the Collection Here).

Winning a Fearless Award is always crazy competitive — but especially for a posed portrait like this one. Most winning images are usually raw, candid moments, so having a crafted image recognized meant the world to me. This moment wasn’t just a “pretty picture” — it was a testament to creativity, patience, trust, and teamwork. 🖤

Dominika and Rachel, thank you for trusting the vision.
Because of you, we made magic.

Same-Sex Drake Devonshire Wedding - Joe and Glenn

Driving into Prince Edward County for the wedding of Joe & Glenn at the Drake Devonshire, I knew I was in for a treat. Prince Edward County is known for its wineries, an exciting art community, awesome restaurants and festivals, and gorgeous landscapes and waterfront views. The Drake Devonshire, an award-winning waterfront boutique hotel, perfectly captures the essence of Prince Edward County. It offers a modern take on the traditional country inns with incredible architectural design, unique artwork, and custom designed furniture; stunning lake views; and drinks and food menus that are absolutely out of this world. When you combine an amazing and fun-loving couple, such as Joe & Glenn, with a venue as quirky, romantic, and luxurious as the Drake Devonshire, the day is guaranteed to be remarkable.

Same-Sex Summer Wedding at Argonaut Rowing Club - Adam and Geoff

Adam and Geoff kicked off their wedding day at the stunning Le Germain Hotel Toronto Maple Leaf Square in the heart of Downtown Toronto—a photographer’s dream for capturing chic and stylish pre-wedding moments. One standout feature of this hotel is its incredible shower, visible from the balcony, which became the setting for one of my most creative shots to date. With Adam and Geoff up for the challenge, we captured an epic, artistic shower photo (check out the top photo of this blog!) that perfectly showcased their fun-loving energy.
Later that morning, their friends joined in the suite for some pre-wedding drinks, laughter, and light-hearted chaos (more drinks than help, of course!). Once everyone was ready, we stepped out into the vibrant streets of Downtown Toronto, right at Maple Leaf Square, which provided the perfect urban backdrop for their stunning couple portraits.
