Ice Skating + Hockey + Bearded Dragons = One Unforgettable Engagement Shoot
When Alli and Greg told me they wanted to skate on a frozen river for their engagement shoot, I was already in. Then they added hockey jerseys. And Hudson’s Bay blankets. And their bearded dragons. At that point, I was like — yep, let’s go.
They invited us to Alli’s parents’ place in Holland Landing, where their backyard literally opens up onto Holland River. It was sunny, snowy, and freezing — basically, a perfect Canadian winter day. We walked (and maybe slid) down the frozen river they had turned into a DIY ice rink the night before. They even brought gear and jerseys — Alli repped the Leafs, Greg rolled up in his Flyers jersey (talk about a house divided), and they jumped straight into a 1-on-1 game.
It was one of those shoots where the laughter doesn’t stop. After the hockey face-off, they cuddled up under a Hudson’s Bay blanket, and we couldn’t stop shooting — every step they took was another cute moment, and we were all just vibing.
And then… came the dragons. Yes, literal bearded dragons. They showed up with signs around their necks (like little best-man and maid-of-honour types) and stole the show for a few shots. It was the perfect ending to a shoot that was personal, silly, sweet, and so them.
Alli & Greg — thank you for the laughs, the skating, and for trusting me to walk backwards on a river with a camera 😅 This one was a total classic.
