Canoes, hay bales, and the ultimate Sunday Funday
Some engagement sessions are short and sweet — others feel like a mini road trip with new friends. This day with Sandra & Anthony? It was exactly that. A full-day summer adventure across Prince Edward County with swims, sunsets, and the kind of real connection that makes you love your job all over again.
A Chill Start at the Cottage
We started the day at Sandra’s family cottage, tucked along a peaceful stretch of lakefront. Gardens, trees, and that cozy summer feeling you only get in a place filled with memories. The 2018 FIFA World Cup Final was on, so we watched a bit of the game, sipped coffee, and let the day unfold naturally.
Sandbanks Shenanigans
First stop: Sandbanks Provincial Park. It was peak summer, so yes, it was packed — but that didn’t stop Sandra & Anthony from diving into the water, splashing each other, and laughing like nobody was watching. They were soaking wet by the end. Mission accomplished.
Wheat Fields, Hay Bales & Camera Acrobatics
On the drive toward Picton, we passed a field so golden it basically begged to be photographed. Between the wheat glowing in the sun and the green corn lining the edges, it was picture-perfect. Sandra and Anthony ran barefoot through the field, tried climbing hay bales (spoiler: harder than it looks), and we even attempted some acrobatic photography manoeuvres involving Diego and my shoulders. It was hilarious. And yes, totally worth it for the shot.
Small-Town Stops, Big Ice Cream Energy
In Picton, we made a mandatory stop at Slickers Ice Cream — still dreaming about that ginger-rhubarb and apple pie combo. Then we wandered around the historic town, found an antique car (whose proud owner insisted we use it for photos), and captured some of the most relaxed, candid moments of the day.
Golden Hour at Lake on the Mountain
We wrapped things up at Lake on the Mountain, and wow — if you’ve never been, add it to your list. The view, the breeze, the golden light… it was magic. Sandra and Anthony looked completely in their element.
The grand finale? A sunset canoe ride across the lake, with us following slowly in a little paddle boat. The sky turned pink, then orange, then purple — and it was quiet, calm, and cinematic.
Sandra & Anthony — thank you for inviting us into such a personal, beautiful day. From hay bales to paddle boats, we loved every second.

Oh how we missed shooting! How we missed meeting our couples! It’s so good to be back, and there was no better way to restart the wedding season than with a romantic Prince Edward County engagement shoot featuring the cutest couple, Emily and Jon. It’s always a little funny to me when we first meet a couple and we hear one of them apologize in advance because they are “awkward” in front of the camera. Yep, it always takes a couple of moments to get used to the camera and to us running around you, but that’s all - it never lasts more than that.
Diego and I are always down for an adventure, especially when that adventure takes us out to Prince Edward County and it’s for an engagement shoot with an awesome couple. Kim and Milan were so pumped for the shoot when they came to pick us up for the long drive – they just couldn’t wait to get there and relive one of the best days of their life, when Milan asked Kim to marry him during their stay at the Drake Devonshire in Prince Edward County, one of the most romantic and luxurious hotels and venues in the area. Our adventure for the day had two planned stops – the Drake Devonshire and a winery, however, not all adventures go according to plan and sometimes you just have to make the best of it, and I gotta say, it ended up being one heck of a day…
Rockwood Conservation Area near Guelph is a photographer’s playground. With so many unique elements to capture, it is an absolutely wonderful space for an outdoor woodsy engagement photoshoot. When Patricia and Habib asked our thoughts on capturing their engagement photos at Rockwood, we immediately said yes! Is it a bit of a mission to get to? Yep, but we love adventure!
