Rockwood Conservation Area
Some shoots stick with you not just because of the photos, but because of the whole vibe — the location, the couple, the energy. Patricia and Habib’s engagement session at Rockwood Conservation Area near Guelph? That was one of those.
We’ve said it before, but Rockwood is seriously a photographer’s dream. Massive limestone cliffs, forest trails, riverside views, and the historic ruins of the Rockwood Woolen Mill — it’s got everything. So when Patricia and Habib brought up the idea of doing their engagement photos here, we were all in. Is it a bit of a trek to get to? Yep. But it’s 1000% worth the drive.
A Walk Through History
The Woolen Mill ruins are the kind of place that quietly tells stories. First built in 1867 (and rebuilt in 1884 after a fire), this place once powered the local economy — and even supplied blankets to the Canadian Army during WWI. Now, all that remains are weathered stone walls and towering windows that somehow feel both grand and intimate.
It’s not just a cool backdrop — it’s Canadian history wrapped in golden hour light. And for two people as thoughtful and creative as Patricia and Habib, it felt like the perfect place to begin.
Nature, Light, and That Just-Engaged Glow
We kicked things off wandering the trails, letting the couple relax and just enjoy the space together. The way the sunlight filtered through the trees, the shadows dancing on the forest floor, the stillness of the lake — everything felt cinematic.
We stopped at a quiet wooded spot where sunbeams broke through the canopy — and honestly, it looked straight out of a fairytale. Patricia and Habib leaned into each other, laughing and stealing kisses while that late summer light wrapped around them like a warm hug.
By the time we made our way down to the shoreline, the lake was lit up in deep blues and oranges from the setting sun. It was peaceful, romantic, and so full of love.
Sunset Picnic Vibes + One Last Shot
As the sky started to fade, we circled back to the ruins for one last idea we had tucked up our sleeve. Patricia and Habib sat down to enjoy a little picnic — a bottle of wine, a cozy blanket, the works. It was relaxed, joyful, them. Then, with the sky just dark enough, we set up one final creative shot — something bold, dramatic, and filled with colour. Patricia and Habib were totally game (and patient), and the result? Pure magic.
Patricia & Habib — thank you for the trust, the laughs, and letting us get a little artsy at the end there. Can’t wait to capture your wedding day!

Scheduling a winter engagement shoot is always a little tricky - the conditions need to be just right! So many factors have to be taken into consideration, like is there going to be enough snow to capture the essence of a Canadian winter, or is it going to be too cold for comfort. It definitely takes a special couple, like Hema and Dileep, brave and committed, to rock a winter engagement shoot!
Trillium Park on Toronto’s waterfront is one of our favourite spots to shoot at within the city. With every passing season, it feels like the park is transformed – with the ever-changing blooms and seasonal colours, we never quite know what to expect when we arrive at Trillium. But between the varied green spaces, unique sculptures and architecture, the gorgeous lake views, and the stunning Toronto skyline in the background, we never get bored creating an experience and memories for our couples at Trillium Park.
Oh how we missed shooting! How we missed meeting our couples! It’s so good to be back, and there was no better way to restart the wedding season than with a romantic Prince Edward County engagement shoot featuring the cutest couple, Emily and Jon. It’s always a little funny to me when we first meet a couple and we hear one of them apologize in advance because they are “awkward” in front of the camera. Yep, it always takes a couple of moments to get used to the camera and to us running around you, but that’s all - it never lasts more than that. When we met Emily and Jon, we could immediately tell by their fun-loving personalities that this shoot was going to be a blast and they were going to rock it! And with the locations that they picked out, there was no way to go wrong.
