Not Your Average Food Shoot — Toronto Product Photography with a Side of Plum Balancing
A couple of weeks ago, we were invited to shoot something totally different from our usual weddings — and we were so down for it. A full-on food and drink shoot at Three Monks and a Duck, one of Queen Street West’s most unique new micro bars.
Spoiler: it was delicious. 😋
Playing with Our Food (Literally)
This bar has been a fave of ours since it opened — the concept, the inclusive menu, the cocktails with personality. So when they reached out for photos, we couldn’t wait to bring their vision to life through some candid, modern product photography.
From a photography standpoint, food and cocktail shoots are wild — you’re styling every detail on top of chasing good light. We made full use of the big front windows and that gorgeous brass bar, balancing textures from wood to metal, and scattering garnishes like tea leaves and blueberries for that effortlessly curated chaos.
If you’ve ever tried to balance a plum on a pile of noodles or get the perfect drizzle shot mid-air… you know what’s up. It’s way more work than it looks on the ’gram. But honestly? So worth it.
The Atmosphere (and the Art!)
If you’ve been to Three Monks and a Duck, you know the mural game is strong. Shoutout to artist Mango Peeler for the funky wall art that made our photo backgrounds pop. Combined with the mismatched glassware and bold plating, this space gave us so much to play with visually.
And the menu? Full of surprises. From bao to cocktails with names like “Lady Marmalade” — each dish had its own personality, and we wanted to make sure that came through in the shots.
Post-Shoot Treat? iHalo Krunch (Obviously)
The cherry on top? Our shoot wrapped just a few doors down at iHalo Krunch — the charcoal and ube ice cream spot owned by the same creative couple behind Three Monks. Naturally, we had to get a cone with all the flavours. And yes, we photographed it before it melted — barely.
Why Food and Product Photography Matters
This type of shoot is all about showcasing your vibe and brand personality, not just the plate. If you’re a Toronto business with a product, service, or space you’ve poured your heart into — you deserve photos that feel like you. Not stocky. Not boring. Just real, creative content that tells your story.
If you’re ready to level up your visuals, let’s chat. Whether you’ve got a bar, bakery, online product, or physical space — we’re in. Bring the food, and we’ll bring the cameras.
