Madsen’s Greenhouse Wedding
Stefanie and Eric’s December wedding in Madsen’s Greenhouse was our final 2018 wedding. Normally, as we get ready on the morning of our last wedding for the year, it’s a bit of a bitter-sweet moment for us as we reflect on the amazing year that’s coming to an end, but this time around it was definitely more on the sweet side. Not only did Stefanie and Eric’s Madsen’s Greenhouse wedding coincide with Diego’s birthday, but before we even set foot in Madsen’s Greenhouse for their winter wedding, we already knew we were in for a real treat! Stefanie has been telling us what a magical venue Madsen’s is and that we will absolutely fall in love with all the flowers and unique light fixtures that adorned the venue. To say that we were excited to shoot and create at Madsen’s would be an understatement.
The morning of Stefanie & Eric’s wedding, while Stefanie was getting ready at her parents’ home, she kept saying “You’re going to go crazy when you see how beautiful it looks inside!”, and she wasn’t wrong! Madsen’s had just finished bringing in brand new floral décor and it was phenomenal! When we arrived at Madsen’s and saw the ceremony space, we were in complete awe! Had we not just stepped inside from the harsh December cold, we would not have known that it was winter because inside Madsen’s Greenhouse, it was spring time, and pink and purple flowers were in full bloom. Trees and vines covered in thick green leaves were everywhere. Unique wall fixtures, decor, and lighting could be found everywhere you looked, and Popis Flowers also did a phenomenal job completing Stefanie and Eric’s vision and bringing it to life with the lovely centerpieces with delicate purple floral arrangements and gold accents. It was a real feast for the eyes, and we just couldn’t wait to start capturing Stefanie and Eric’s Madsen’s Greenhouse wedding.
Stefanie & Eric’s formal portrait session was set to take place right before the ceremony, but it had to be slightly delayed due to a brief moment of panic when we couldn’t find our groom, who had actually forgotten his speech back at the hotel and drove back to get it. While waiting for him to return, we had fun doing bridal portraits with Stefanie, who was ever so patiently waiting for Eric in the bridal suite. No matter where we turned at Madsen’s, whether it was the ceremony space, the main reception hall, or the bridal suite, there was just so much charm and character in every detail, and when you have a radiant bride to go along with it, you cannot go wrong!
When it came time for the ceremony, it was already dark outside and the ceremony space was quite dim. We added several of our own lights and it gave the space the extra little something-something it needed for the colours to really pop and the whole space to just come alive. It was so magical to watch the bridesmaids walk down the aisle in beautiful purple bridesmaids dresses that matched the floral decor perfectly. Stefanie herself looked exquisite, and when we look back at photos of Stefanie and Eric standing together in front of their family and friends, exchanging rings and saying their vows to each other, we can’t help but get goosebumps.
Following the ceremony, the guests filled the reception space to enjoy cocktails and mingle before the buffet dinner was served. The reception space was lit with warm yellow lights that adorned the entire room. There were candles, and bistro lights, and chandeliers of all sorts. When it came time for the speeches and the dances, these lights created the coolest designs and light patterns. They were so much fun to work with!
Speaking of speaking, here was yet another wedding at which we had a hard time keeping our composure during the speeches. Notice a pattern? Yeah, we are suckers for heartfelt speeches, and at Stephanie and Eric’s wedding, there was no shortage. Eric’s father and brother both delivered speeches that had many crying, even our groom couldn’t help but wipe away some tears. The speeches of Stefanie’s parents and maid-of-honour also gave us all the feels, but mixed in with much-needed giggles.
After dinner, we could tell the guests were eager to get the party started as the dance floor started to fill up. And sure enough, as soon as Stefanie and Eric cut their gorgeous NutMeg cake and everyone indulged in the mouth-watering dessert table, the dance floor quickly filled up thanks to DJ Rick of Dynamic Music Solutions. We had so much fun dancing and jumping around with the guests that the only time we stepped off was to catch our breath, before throwing ourselves back into the middle of everyone. Stefanie and Eric’s guests truly gave us their all on the dancefloor, and we couldn’t have asked for a better end to our day. Thank you, Stefanie and Eric, for giving us the most magical end to a phenomenal 2018!
