Magical florals, heartfelt tears, and one epic dance floor send-off to 2018
There’s something pretty special about ending your wedding season with a couple like Stefanie and Eric. It was December, the snow was falling outside… but inside Madsen’s Greenhouse? It was a full-blown garden dream. Flowers blooming, bistro lights glowing, and this ridiculously sweet couple at the center of it all.
Also — side note — this wedding happened to land on Diego’s birthday, so yeah, the vibes were high from the start.
“Just wait until you see it inside…”
That’s what Stefanie kept saying as she got ready at her parents’ house, surrounded by family, friends, and so much excitement. And when we finally walked into Madsen’s Greenhouse? She was right. We were floored.
New floral installations had just gone up, and the entire space was glowing — full of lush greens, delicate purple flowers, and twinkling lights everywhere you looked. Popis Flowers added beautiful finishing touches with gold-accented centerpieces that tied the whole vision together. It was hard to believe it was winter outside.
One Missing Groom (and One Very Patient Bride)
We were supposed to start formal portraits before the ceremony, but… there was just one little thing. We lost the groom 😅. (Spoiler: he forgot his speech and had to double back to the hotel.)
While we waited, we made the most of it — Stefanie looked absolutely radiant in the bridal suite, and there was so much charm in every corner that we didn’t need to go far. By the time Eric returned, everything just clicked into place.
A Candlelit Ceremony That Hit Us in the Feels
The ceremony space at Madsen’s Greenhouse gets even more magical after dark. It was already dim and moody, so we added a few lights to make the colours pop — and wow. When the bridesmaids walked down the aisle in their purple gowns, it all felt like a dream.
Stefanie and Eric’s vows were sweet and emotional, and the space was filled with the soft glow of candles, chandeliers, and bistro lights overhead. Goosebumps, all around.
Speech Tears, Cake Feels, and a Packed Dance Floor
The reception kept the cozy, warm energy going — gold lights strung from the ceiling, candles everywhere, and a killer dessert table (plus a NutMeg cake that was almost too pretty to cut).
The speeches were packed with emotion. Eric’s dad and brother had everyone in tears (including him), and Stefanie’s parents and maid of honour brought that perfect mix of sweet and hilarious. It’s hard not to get swept up in it when people speak from the heart like that.
And then… party time. DJ Rick from Dynamic Music Solutions brought the fire. The dance floor filled instantly, and we didn’t stop moving all night. It was the kind of party where the guests give everything — jumping, singing, spinning — and somehow still have energy left to cheer for an encore.
Stefanie & Eric — thank you for ending our season with so much joy, light, and laughter. It was the most magical close to 2018, and we’ll never forget it.

Laura and Alen originally had very different plans for their wedding venue and Casa Loma had not been in the picture until just a couple of months before the wedding. Crazy enough, Diego and I had driven past Casa Loma and remarked how cool it would be to shoot a wedding there just minutes before receiving the email from Laura and Alen telling us about the venue location change due to unforeseen circumstances.
