Kelso Conservation Area Fall Engagement Shoot
Ok, so we may be kind of obsessed with Kelso Conservation Area in Milton. It was our third time shooting an engagement shoot there in 12 months, and we are already excited for the next time! Kelso Conservation Area just has so many unique and fun spots to shoot at, endless possibilities to create, and when we have an amazingly fun couple like Jordana and Jeremy to come along for the ride, Diego and I have to work hard to contain our excitement.
Diego and I arrived at Kelso Conservation Area for the engagement shoot well in advance of the shoot time. We wanted to explore new areas and spots in Kelso to see what else could be created and what could be done differently. As we walked around, we just kept pointing out new ideas for photos all over the place - enclosed bridges and stairwells, hidden paths, leafy puddles, and houses overgrown by all sorts of vegetation. Now all we needed was Jordana and Jeremy.
Jordana and Jeremy are the absolute dream couple. They were teeming with excitement from the moment they arrived and to the very last shot. They were so full of energy and love for each other that we didn’t even have to give them too many prompts or directions. They are simply gaga for each other and it was amazing to capture all their smiles and giggles. Their stylish outfit choices were also perfect for a fall engagement shoot. The pinks and blues contrasted gorgeously against the fall colours and made them pop amongst all the reds and yellows. It was especially helpful when we were creating the puddle picture. There are so many variables that have to fit into place for a puddle picture to work and work well, and one of those is the outfit choice. For Jordana and Jeremy’s engagement shoot at Kelso Conservation area, not only were the puddles calm and full of colourful maple leaves, but the sky was bright blue and Jordana’s pink sweater brought the reflection to life. Diego definitely did not contain his excitement as he was creating that photo haha
Last time we were at Kelso Conservation Area for Kyla and Riley’s summer engagement shoot, Kyla and Riley decided to jump right into the lake to get some epic sunset shots in the lake. And while they were a little chilly after, it was definitely worth it. Jordana and Jeremy also wanted to take advantage of the lake and the gorgeous sunset colours from that evening. They considered getting into the lake, but mind you, it wasn’t summer anymore, and everyone was already cold as the sun started to go down. Jordana was already mentally prepared for how cold the water was going to be, but Jeremy had a much harder time coming to terms with it. Diego also accepted his fate of going into the water since I was the one who got to do the those shots last time. After a lot of “should we or shouldn’t we” as we all stood at the edge of the freezing water, it was decided that perhaps it was too cold after all and we should enjoy the last bit of light and the moody sky elsewhere.
With Kelso Conservation Area now being almost empty of all other visitors, we took advantage of the empty staircase to play around with colourful lights and we enjoyed the calmness of the pond by capturing the reflection of the moody sky in the water. We were having so much fun that we all lost track of time. Had we not been kicked out by the park ranger for overstaying our visit past closing time, we would have stayed there all night with Jordana and Jeremy creating epic shots.
Jordana and Jeremy, thank you so much for trusting us, being patient with us, and being your awesome fun selves!! We cannot wait to have the best time celebrating you on your big day!
