School Engagement Photos
Some love stories start in cafés. Others spark on dating apps. But Amanda and William’s? Theirs began in a school hallway — with one simple act of kindness.
Years ago, at St. Mother Teresa Catholic Elementary School in Markham, William was the new kid. He was quietly waiting in the office on his first day, unsure of what to expect. That’s when Amanda showed up. Her teacher had picked her to welcome the new student and show him around. It’s the kind of thing teachers do all the time. But this time? It changed everything.
So when Amanda and William reached out and asked if they could do their engagement session at the school where they met, it was a no-brainer. Diego and I were 100% in.
Capturing Their Story Where It All Began
Walking back into an elementary school as adults — let alone for an engagement shoot — was honestly surreal in the best way. From the rows of little desks to the colourful bulletin boards, everything felt familiar but different. And Amanda and William? They lit up the moment we stepped inside. You could tell that being back in those halls brought back all the memories (and a few butterflies).
We started the shoot just like their story did: in the school office. From there, we hit all the key spots — the library (yes, there was sneaky kissing), the classrooms, the gym, even the playground where they used to hang out during recess. Every space gave us new ways to show off their chemistry, and they were full of laughs, grins, and a few “remember when…” moments that made it extra special.
A Playful, Personal Engagement Session
What made this shoot shine was how personal it was. This wasn’t just a cute backdrop — it was the place. The place where they met. Where their friendship started. Where, unknowingly, the foundation of their relationship was being built.
And let’s be honest — Amanda and William were total naturals. Whether they were holding hands down the hall or goofing off in the gym, everything felt authentic and joy-filled. You know a couple’s in love when they make skipping through their elementary school look like a rom-com montage.
We always tell our couples: pick a location that means something to you. This shoot was proof of why that advice never fails.
Amanda & William, You Two Are the Cutest
Thank you both for letting us tag along on this nostalgic trip back to where it all began. Your love story is what Disney movies are made of — childhood connection turned lifelong partnership. And thank you to St. Mother Teresa Catholic School for letting us break a few school rules (we promise we didn’t run too much in the halls).
Counting down the days to your fall wedding — if your big day is even half as sweet as this session, it’s going to be one for the books. 🍂💛

Do try to choose a location that is meaningful and special to you both as a couple. It could be where you first met, where you had your first date, or where you got engaged.
Do consider local spots you love to visit together, such as coffee shops, markets, or your favourite park to stroll in.
Do remember you can keep it simple and have your shoot done at home for cozy and relaxed photos.
Choosing a location for an engagement shoot often seems to be a challenge for couples. Many gravitate towards the popular spots around Toronto, but Diego and I always encourage couples to choose an engagement shoot location that has meaning to them, that is unique, or that they just absolutely love. When Donna and Daneil mentioned that they were considering doing their engagement shoot in Hamilton, at the Dundas community fire station where Daneil is a fireman, we jumped at the opportunity. How often do you get the chance to do a photoshoot at a fire station? Not often, that’s for sure!
We met Alex and Andrew at the National Bridal Show, and between her awesome neon pink hair and bubbly personality, Alex immediately stood out to us, so we were super excited when Alex and Andrew asked to meet with us to chat about their wedding. During our meeting, they mentioned they were considering doing their engagement shoot at the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory, but were slightly concerned that it would be a bit of a drive and inquired if it would be a problem. Nope! We told them what we tell all our couples: we want them to pick a location that is special to them and has some meaning.
