Getting Ready Inside a Fairytale

As a Toronto wedding photographer, few venues get the heart racing like Casa Loma. And for Laura and Alen, this historic castle became the perfect last-minute setting for a winter wedding straight out of a fairytale. Originally, they had another venue in mind — but just a couple of months before the big day, their plans changed. And in a wild twist of fate, Diego and I had literally just driven past Casa Loma, talking about how epic it would be to shoot a wedding there, when we got the email about the venue switch. Kismet? Definitely felt like it.

When we arrived, Casa Loma was still open to tourists — full of visitors wandering the halls, totally unaware that a real-life wedding was about to unfold upstairs. We made our way up the grand wooden staircase and through corridors lined with vintage decor and antiques, until we reached the bridal suite. Honestly, it felt like a museum room. Ornate, timeless, and utterly royal — the kind of place that makes a bride feel like a princess. Laura arrived with her crew, and the energy immediately shifted. The room filled with laughter, champagne, and those little in-between moments that make the getting-ready experience so emotional and joyful.

Meanwhile, across the castle, Alen and his guys had their own vibe going: drinks, jokes, and a lot of laughs. It was the perfect setup for what was to come.

Ceremony in the Conservatory | Stained Glass Dreams

The Conservatory Room at Casa Loma is nothing short of breathtaking. As the sun began to set, golden light poured through the arched windows and the stained glass dome ceiling came alive, casting colourful reflections across the marble floor. The room had been beautifully transformed into a ceremony space, and it felt like stepping into a scene from a romantic film.

One of the most unforgettable moments was when Laura and Alen brought out a TFC (Toronto Football Club) scarf during the ceremony. The officiant used it to wrap their hands as he told the story of one of their first dates — a freezing night out at a soccer match, where Alen wrapped Laura’s hands in his scarf. That moment, full of love and nostalgia, had the whole room smiling (and tearing up).

Cocktail Hour & Reception in the Library

After the ceremony and some stunning formal portraits, guests made their way to the Casa Loma Library for dinner. Earlier in the day, the Library had been full of tourists and castle performers. By evening, it had transformed into an intimate, candlelit space filled with elegance and warmth.

The reception kicked off with a heartfelt welcome and a series of hilarious speeches from the bridal party (the groomsmen especially crushed it). But the standout moment came when Laura and Alen themselves took the mic and surprised everyone with an emotional announcement that had the entire room in tears. It was a beautiful reminder of how personal and meaningful weddings can be when you bring your full selves into every part of the day.

Party Time in the Conservatory

When the doors to the Conservatory reopened, it had transformed yet again — this time into a high-energy party zone with an open bar and a killer DJ. The marble floors became a dance floor, and the vibe was electric. The bridal party set the tone with big energy and wild moves — including a crowd-favourite moment when one of the groomsmen did the worm across the floor.

As photographers, we live for these party vibes. Capturing the movement, the light, the laughter — it all comes together in such a real, raw way.

Nighttime Portraits at the Castle

Before wrapping for the night, we pulled Laura and Alen aside for one final set of portraits — and these were some of our absolute favourites. We explored the quiet, dimly lit halls of Casa Loma after hours (yes, it felt as magical as it sounds), and then stepped outside for some bold, cinematic portraits in front of the glowing castle facade.

It was freezing, the wind was wild, and they were absolute champs. These moments — when couples trust us, even when it's cold and late — are the ones that lead to magic. And the photos? Totally worth it.

Laura and Alen, thank you for trusting us to tell your love story. Your wedding at Casa Loma was stylish, joyful, emotional, and full of surprises. It was the kind of day that reminds us why we do what we do — and we couldn’t be more grateful.

One King West Winter Wedding - Kim & Milan

The One King West wedding of Kim and Milan was a glamorously royal affair - with purple and gold as their theme colours, what else could we expect? When we initially met with Kim and Milan, it was evident that they were enjoying the wedding planning process and that they already had a vision for their big day. Spending quality time and celebrating with their family and friends was a priority. They wanted to truly soak in every moment of the day stress-free, be present, and have fun. Thanks to the careful planning of Trevor from Trevents, Kim and Milan got just that!

New Year’s Eve Horseshoe Valley Winter Wedding - Rosie & Shayne

When’s the last time you really celebrated New Year’s Eve with your family or friends? I know for us it’s been a while. Not too many people really celebrate New Year’s Eve nowadays - they just stay at home watching the countdown on TV (that’s if they can stay awake long enough). Bars and restaurants charge exuberant fees for special New Year’s Eve menus, plus they can be so crowded, which is not always the most fun... so that’s why we adore the idea of New Year’s Eve weddings.

The Arlington Estate Winter Wedding - Stacey & Vince

There is something so romantic about winter weddings. Maybe it’s the fresh snow glittering in the sun, or perhaps it’s the classy and elegant fur wraps that make you want to curl up by a fireplace, but whatever it is, winter weddings never fail to impress us and Stacey and Vince’s winter wedding at the stunning Arlington Estate was no exception.
