Presidente Banquet Hall Wedding
Diego and I have been waiting for Becky and Kyle’s wedding for the past 2.5 years. I remember so clearly our first meeting with them, where we sat and chatted for close to 3 hours about everything from their wedding to life in general. It was like catching up with old friends. At that time though I remember us thinking that 2.5 years is ages from now. We could not imagine where life would take us in that time, and we definitely could not have imagined the state the world would be in on July 17, 2021.
2.5 years and an epic camping adventure engagement shoot later, it was July 2021. The world was (and still is) battling Covid-19 but Becky and Kyle were determined to get married on their original date. As luck would have it, July saw restrictions starting to lift in Ontario so Becky and Kyle knew they could have at least a small wedding with their closest family and friends. Plans were made for a backyard wedding chez Becky’s parents home. Everything was set to go and then lo and behold, a week before the wedding restrictions in Ontario were even further lifted. Becky and Kyle’s wedding venue, Presidente Banquet Hall, was now going to be open and available to host the big day. We were so excited to celebrate with them and finally meet their family and friends that we heard so much about. We were promised an amazing crowd and a fabulous time, and man, they did not disappoint!
Getting Ready
Diego and I were greeted with hugs, smiles, and lots of laughter when we arrived early in the morning at Becky’s and Kyle’s parents homes for their getting ready. There was so much energy and excitement in both homes. Everyone was running around, grabbing food, grabbing drinks. The girls danced around and the guys goofed off. One thing was very clear to us - everyone present absolutely adores Becky and Kyle and could not be happier for them. There was just so much joy and emotion, especially when Becky and Kyle opened their gifts from one another and read their letters. Diego and I had to contain our emotions as we photographed these special moments. It was so sweet and such a pleasure to capture.
We loved seeing the different elements of Becky and Kyle’s wedding outfits come together. They both incorporated pops of personality into what they were wearing. Kyle was sporting Mutant Ninja Turtles socks, while Becky, who looked like a proper princess with a tiara and a stunning ball gown wedding dress, was also wearing ultra fluffy and ultra comfy pink slippers under all that dress. I kept forgetting she was wearing them so every time I’d catch a glimpse of her slippers peaking from under the dress I couldn’t help but get a goofy smile. Loved how fun they are, and loved that Becky rocked them all day!
Ceremony at Immaculate Conception Parish
Becky and Kyle were married in a Catholic ceremony lead by the charismatic Fr Eugene Chianain at the Immaculate Conception Parish. The stunning church was beautifully lit with colourful lights, creating a beautiful backdrop as Kyle and Becky said their I do’s, exchanged rings, and shared their first kiss as husband and wife. As they exited the church with the biggest smiles on their faces, it was clear that Becky and Kyle were elated to finally be husband and wife.
Portraits at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection
We arrived at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg to capture the couple portraits, and the wedding party and family photos, just as dark clouds rolled in and threatened to rain us out. Luckily, Becky’s dad was prepared with his special herb umbrellas, which gave everyone a good chuckle. This was our first wedding of the year where more than 25 people were allowed to gather, and there must have been well over 25 people with us at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection for the family and wedding party photos. It felt so good to be around so many people again - everyone was joyful and ready to celebrate.
No one was ready to celebrate more than the wedding party. Their energy throughout the whole day was absolutely incredible, but especially so during the wedding party photos. They were down for all the games and challenges, even some R rates ones (oh my!), so we knew they were going to give us some amazing reactions and big laughs.
What impressed me the most was just how comfortable Becky and Kyle were in front of the camera during their couple portrait session. While I’d love to say that it’s all because they had training with us during their engagement session, there is definitely something much deeper there. Their faces light up as soon as they look at each other and they seem almost lost in each other’s eyes. There is no amount of direction we can ever give to a couple that would result in that look. They are just that stinking cute in love!
Reception at the Presidente Banquet Hall
The part of the wedding that we were most excited about for Becky and Kyle’s wedding was the party. From the very first meeting we were told that there were a lot of partiers among their family and friends so to be prepared for a lot of dancing. Thankfully, we didn’t have to wait long for the party to start. From the moment Becky and Kyle made their grand entrance at the Presidente Banquet Hall and to the end of the night, their infectious energy had everyone out their seats cheering, dancing, and celebrating the newlyweds. Every speech had guests either crying or laughing. Every song had guests busting a move. There was never a dull moment. And I bet if it were possible, the party would have continued into the early morning, with family and friends celebrating Becky and Kyle, and celebrating life.
Becky and Kyle, Diego and I cannot thank you enough for having us be a part of your big day. We felt so welcomed by all your guests and we had such a blast breaking it down on the dance floor with everyone. It was a phenominal day and we are so happy we were there to capture all the incredible moments for you. You guys absolutely rocked your wedding!
