Prince Edward County Engagement Photos at a Winery and Secret Beach - Emily and Jon

Prince Edward County Engagement Photos With Winery Views, Beach Vibes, and a Killer Sunset

There are engagement sessions that feel like a quick photoshoot, and then there are engagement sessions that feel like a full little adventure. This one was definitely the second kind.

Emily and Jon are from Toronto, but Prince Edward County has a special place in their hearts. And honestly, I get it. The County has a completely different rhythm than the city. You have wineries, old barns, country roads, small towns, beaches, sunsets, and those random little pockets of magic that make you feel like you found something you were not supposed to find. For engagement photos, that is the good stuff.

This session started at By Chadsey’s Cairns Winery and finished at a quiet secret beach in Prince Edward County. So basically, we had the dream combo: vineyard, rustic textures, golden light, forest path, champagne, water, bare feet, sunset, and a couple who were fully down to have fun with it.

Also, this was one of those sessions where the couple says something like, “We are awkward in front of the camera,” and then five minutes later they are laughing, cuddling, spinning around, splashing in the water, and looking like they do this every weekend. Classic. I hear that line all the time, and I promise, being comfortable in front of the camera is not something you need to bring with you. That is part of my job. You show up, we hang out, I guide you when you need it, and somewhere along the way the photos start feeling less like posing and more like you two just being together.

Why Prince Edward County Is So Good for Engagement Photos

Prince Edward County is one of my favourite places in Ontario for engagement photos because it gives you so much variety without making the session feel chaotic. You can start with a winery, add some countryside texture, sneak in a beach, and finish with a sunset over the water. That is a lot of visual range for one engagement session, and it gives the final gallery a story instead of just one pretty backdrop.

For couples coming from Toronto, PEC also feels like a little escape. It is close enough to make sense for a session, but far enough that it feels like you are doing something special. Instead of choosing a downtown wall or a park that everyone has used a hundred times, you get a place that feels more personal, more relaxed, and honestly, a little more fun.

That is why Prince Edward County engagement photos work so well. The place already has character. You do not have to force it. You can walk through a vineyard, stop near an old building, wander down a forest path, sit by the water, drink champagne, and suddenly the whole session feels like a date night with photos built into it.

By Chadsey’s Cairns Winery Engagement Photos

We started the session at By Chadsey’s Cairns Winery, one of those Prince Edward County spots that has the exact kind of charm you want for engagement photos. It is not too polished, not too perfect, and that is what makes it great. The vineyard, the rustic barn, the historic brick buildings, and the warm evening light all worked together beautifully.

Winery engagement photos in Prince Edward County are such a good idea because they give you a mix of romance and texture. You get the rows of vines, the soft countryside feeling, and enough architecture to make the photos feel grounded. It is not just “couple standing in a field.” There is shape, light, history, and a real sense of place.

Emily and Jon fit into that space so naturally. They had this sweet, playful energy together, and the winery gave us room to ease into the session without rushing. That is always my favourite way to start. We walk, we talk, we take some photos, everyone relaxes, and then the good stuff starts happening. The little laughs. The weird in between moments. The way one person looks at the other when they forget the camera is there. That is always where the photos get stronger.

From the Winery to a Secret Beach in Prince Edward County

After the winery, we headed to a local secret beach. And yes, I am keeping it vague because some places are better when they stay a little mysterious.

The walk to the beach was part of the whole vibe. There was a path through the trees, little flowers along the way, and that feeling you get when you know the location is about to be worth it. Then the forest opened up to a quiet pebble beach with clear blue water and an unreal view of the lake.

This is one of the reasons I love engagement sessions that have more than one location. The winery gave us warmth and texture, and the beach gave us openness, movement, and that soft end of day feeling. The whole gallery starts to breathe differently when the scenery changes like that.

Emily’s floral dress and Jon’s navy jacket looked perfect against the beach and the water. It felt romantic without being stiff, stylish without trying too hard, and relaxed in the best way. We did some walking photos, some cuddly photos, some movement, and then eventually the champagne came out, because obviously, if you are doing Prince Edward County beach engagement photos, a champagne moment is never a bad idea.

Champagne, Bare Feet, and Sunset Engagement Photos

The best part of the session was the end, when the sun started dropping and the whole beach shifted into that unreal Prince Edward County sunset light. The water was calm, the sky started changing colour, and Emily and Jon just leaned into the moment.

They dipped their feet in the water, splashed around, laughed a lot, and gave us exactly the kind of candid engagement photos I love. Nothing felt forced. Nothing felt too precious. It was romantic, but still fun. Beautiful, but still real.

That balance matters so much to me. I love creative portraits, dramatic light, and photos that feel a little cinematic, but I never want a session to feel like the couple disappeared inside an idea. The best photos still need to feel like the people in them. With Emily and Jon, the sunset portraits worked because they were actually having fun. The silhouettes, the dress movement, the water, the colour in the sky, all of that was amazing, but the reason the photos work is because they still feel like them.

By the end of the night, the beach was quiet, the light was ridiculous, and Emily’s dress moving in the wind gave us those final romantic silhouette photos that made the whole evening feel complete.

Planning Your Own Prince Edward County Engagement Session

If you are thinking about doing engagement photos in Prince Edward County, my biggest advice is to treat it like an experience, not just a photoshoot. Pick places that actually make sense for you. Maybe that is a winery, a beach, a cottage, a favourite restaurant, a little town you love, or the place where you got engaged. The more connected you feel to the location, the better the photos usually feel.

Prince Edward County is especially good for couples who want engagement photos that feel relaxed, romantic, and a little adventurous. You can dress up, bring champagne, go barefoot at the beach, wander through a vineyard, or make the session feel like a date night. There is room to be playful, quiet, stylish, weird, sentimental, or all of the above.

And if you are worried about feeling awkward in front of the camera, do not stress too much. Most people feel that way at the beginning. My job is to guide you enough that you do not feel lost, but not so much that the photos feel overly posed. The goal is always that sweet spot where you feel comfortable, the photos look creative, and the whole thing still feels like a real memory.

Prince Edward County Engagement Photographer

This session with Emily and Jon was such a good reminder of why I love photographing engagement sessions in Prince Edward County. You get the adventure, the scenery, the light, and the chance to make photos that feel way more personal than just meeting at a random park for thirty minutes.

We started with winery engagement photos at By Chadsey’s Cairns, ended with sunset portraits at a secret beach, and somewhere in between we got all the little candid moments that make a session feel alive.

If you are planning Prince Edward County engagement photos, or you want an engagement session somewhere meaningful, creative, relaxed, and a little different, I would love to help you plan it. Whether you are coming from Toronto, getting married in PEC, or just want photos that feel like a real adventure together, this area has so much to work with.

Bring the champagne. Bring the outfits. Bring the “we are awkward” warning if you need to. I hear it all the time, and it always works out better than people expect.

Prince Edward County Engagement - Kim and Milan

Diego and I are always down for an adventure, especially when that adventure takes us out to Prince Edward County and it’s for an engagement shoot with an awesome couple. Kim and Milan were so pumped for the shoot when they came to pick us up for the long drive – they just couldn’t wait to get there and relive one of the best days of their life, when Milan asked Kim to marry him during their stay at the Drake Devonshire in Prince Edward County, one of the most romantic and luxurious hotels and venues in the area. Our adventure for the day had two planned stops – the Drake Devonshire and a winery, however, not all adventures go according to plan and sometimes you just have to make the best of it, and I gotta say, it ended up being one heck of a day…

Prince Edward County Engagement Session - Sandra and Anthony

This Christmas Eve, Diego and I have been reminiscing about our favorite moments from 2018, and especially today, with this snowy weather outside, one of the engagement shoots that we’ve been reflecting on fondly is the full day engagement shoot we did this summer with Sandra and Anthony in Prince Edward County. The full day engagement shoot we did with Sandra and Anthony was a perfect Sunday Funday. Diego and I drove up to Sandra’s family cottage in Prince Edward County in the morning, and as it was the day of the 2018 FIFA World Cup final, we enjoyed a quiet morning with them watching the final before heading out for our fun-filled day. The plan for their engagement shoot was to hang out together in the Prince Edward County area, and document our adventures as we went along.

Same-Sex Drake Devonshire Wedding - Joe and Glenn

Driving into Prince Edward County for the wedding of Joe & Glenn at the Drake Devonshire, we knew we were in for a treat. Prince Edward County is known for its wineries, an exciting art community, awesome restaurants and festivals, and gorgeous landscapes and waterfront views. The Drake Devonshire, an award winning waterfront boutique hotel, perfectly captures the essence of Prince Edward County. It offers a modern take on the traditional country inns with incredible architectural design, unique artwork, and custom designed furniture; stunning lake views; and drinks and food menus that are absolutely out of this world. When you combine an amazing and fun-loving couple, such as Joe & Glenn, with a venue as quirky, romantic, and luxurious as the Drake Devonshire, the day is guaranteed to be incredible.
