Niagara-on-the-Lake Wedding
Novina and Jason’s intimate Niagara-on-the-Lake wedding had it all: historic charm, emotional vows, a surprise tango performance, and a sunset carriage ride through town. From the very first moment we arrived at The Charles Hotel, we knew this day was going to be something special.
Getting Ready at The Charles Hotel
We met Novina, her mom, and her bridesmaids as they were settling into one of the beautiful rooms at The Charles Hotel — a charming 1832 manor-turned-inn in the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Her suite had a private terrace overlooking the gardens, which made for the perfect getting-ready space (and dreamy photos). One of the most touching moments was watching her mom quietly beam with pride as Novina got her hair and makeup done — no words needed.
Meanwhile, Jason and his crew were getting ready at a nearby Airbnb, putting final touches on their suits and ties. We love when there’s a little chaos and laughter in the air — it always makes for the best candid shots, and these guys didn’t disappoint.
Before heading to the ceremony, Jason and Novina each took a quiet moment alone to read heartfelt letters from one another. Those emotions were already bubbling to the surface, and we had a feeling the ceremony would be packed with even more.
The Gazebo Ceremony at Queen’s Royal Park
If you’ve never been to Queen’s Royal Park in Niagara-on-the-Lake, it’s worth the trip. The ceremony took place at the iconic gazebo overlooking Lake Ontario and the Niagara River — a truly magical setting.
Jason arrived early to help with setup and chat with the musicians, while Novina made her grand entrance in a horse-drawn carriage (yes, seriously!). As she walked down the aisle with her dad, tourists gathered to watch and cheer — it was like a fairytale unfolding in real life.
And Jason? His eyes were already welling up the moment he saw her. The entire ceremony was packed with heartfelt vows, tender looks, and joyful tears — all under the warm glow of the afternoon sun.
Just Married Moments + Fort Mississauga Portraits
After their “I do’s,” Jason and Novina hopped into their carriage for a post-ceremony ride through the streets of Niagara-on-the-Lake. People waved, shouted congrats, and snapped photos — you could feel the love everywhere.
We snuck off to Fort Mississauga for portraits, where the ruins of a red brick tower from the War of 1812 gave us some dramatic texture against the lush green surroundings. Jason and Novina were radiant — relaxed, glowing, and totally in the moment.
First Dance Surprise + Sparkler Send-Off
Back at The Charles Hotel, guests were sipping wine during cocktail hour while Jason and Novina got ready for their surprise first dance. And let me tell you — it was a moment. They had choreographed a tango, and Novina stunned in a red dress as they glided across the back patio like total pros. Their guests were floored — you could hear gasps and cheers as they moved together in sync.
Later in the evening, the sparklers came out. Everyone gathered for a final photo moment, lighting up the night with laughter, love, and celebration. Jason and Novina didn’t want to leave — and honestly, we didn’t either.

The venue they chose for their wedding was Archeo at Distillery District. This wasn't the first time I had photographed a wedding at Archeo, Heather and Salar could not have picked a better place for the special day, it’s one our favorite venue in Toronto, not only because of the Distillery District has so many spots for great photos, but Archeo has one of the best food and lovely people working at.
Imagine standing a top of a mountain peak, surrounded by snow-peaked mountains that appear through occasional breaks in the clouds. The wind is furiously trying to unravel your hair and the cold stings your hands, but none of that matters. You are holding the hands of the love of your life, looking into their tear-filled eyes as they say their vows to you, promising to love you for the rest of their lives.
The charming Distillery District wedding of Tanya and Alex was a perfect combination of contemporary, vintage, rustic, and chic, a true reflection of this hip district found in the east-end of downtown Toronto. We always love shooting in the Distillery Distric, as the heritage buildings, combined with the modern art and sculptures that can be found all around the pedstrian-only streets and paths, make the perfect back-drop for wedding photography.
