The Guild Inn Estate - The Last Wedding of the Season

I had been counting down the days for the final wedding of the 2024 season, and for so many reasons, Christine and Stephen’s big day was worth the wait. First, their engagement shoot at Trail Hub was an absolute blast. Christine and Stephen’s energy was infectious, and we got to connect so well during the shoot that it left me even more excited to capture their wedding. One of the things that drew them to my work was Christine’s love for symmetry—a passion I wholeheartedly share. I also love when couples have a creative eye and a taste for the unique; it makes the process so much more fun and inspiring. Christine and Stephen’s vision was exactly that, and I knew their wedding day was going to be something truly special.
Second, their friends—I mean, if Christine and Stephen are this fun to be around, you just know their crew is going to bring the party on the wedding day. And lastly, the venue. I was thrilled to return to one of my absolute favourite locations, The Guild Inn Estate. The last time I shot there was for Jeremy and Jordana’s super fun wedding, and now I had the chance to create magic at this stunning venue all over again.

Getting Ready: A Calm Start Filled with Special Moments

Christine’s wedding day began with a serene and joyful morning at a hotel in Scarborough (I’ll confirm the name). The atmosphere in her bridal suite was lively yet relaxed, as she got ready surrounded by her excited bridesmaids. Their energy was contagious, making the entire experience even more special.
Two of the most emotional moments of the morning were the first looks Christine planned—first with her dad, who was visibly moved, and then with her bridesmaids, who couldn’t contain their excitement and happiness for her. It was so heartwarming to see everyone come together and share in those touching moments.

During the getting ready, I had the opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind portrait of Christine. Using the reflection from the hotel’s TV, a makeup ring light, and a little creative teamwork with Mike, from Venture Films, we captured something truly unique. It was a perfect blend of artistry and collaboration, and the result was stunning.
Christine’s mom played a meaningful role in the morning as well, helping her with her jewellery by the window. Christine wore a white sari, the traditional Indian wedding dress, which looked absolutely radiant. We took some beautiful bridal portraits by the window, where the soft natural light added an elegant touch to her look.
It was a calm yet emotional start to the day, setting the tone for everything that followed.

On the other side of the city, my second shooter, Rob, was capturing Stephen’s lively and meaningful getting-ready moments. His morning was filled with family and friends, creating a warm and bustling atmosphere. Stephen’s house was alive with energy as his loved ones joined in to prepare for the big day. The groomsmen were especially involved, helping him with his suit and ensuring every detail was perfect. Their camaraderie and excitement made for some incredible candid moments, which Rob captured beautifully with his signature creative style.

One particularly significant part of Stephen’s morning was a traditional ritual that added a layer of meaning to the day. Stephen performed the Kuthu Vilakku, or oil lamp lighting ceremony, a beautiful tradition in Tamil culture. This ritual symbolizes the removal of darkness and the welcoming of light, knowledge, and blessings. The glow of the flame and the serene atmosphere it created added a spiritual and reflective moment amidst the excitement of the morning.

After the ritual, Stephen and his groomsmen stepped outside to take some portraits in the backyard. The setting was ideal, with beautiful light and greenery providing the perfect backdrop for family and groomsmen photos. These portraits are a must-have for any wedding day, preserving the love and connection shared with those closest to you.

Stephen’s getting ready was the perfect balance of joy, tradition, and heartfelt moments. It set the tone for a wedding day filled with meaning and celebration.

Emotional and Joyful Fall Wedding Ceremony at the Guild Inn Estate

The ceremony was a grand and heartfelt celebration, held at the beautiful Guild Inn Estate on a sunny and warm Fall day. With a large gathering of family and friends, the space was filled with love, emotion, and excitement. The natural light streaming through the ceremony space created a stunning atmosphere, adding a touch of drama to the already picturesque setting.

The ceremony began with a meaningful unity candle ritual, where both mothers lit individual candles, symbolizing the joining of two families. This touching moment set the tone for the rest of the event, highlighting the importance of family and tradition.
Stephen, who initially seemed composed and serious, showed a more emotional side during the exchange of vows. It was moving to see how the ceremony brought out such genuine emotions, with Stephen and Christine sharing heartfelt smiles and tender moments that resonated with everyone present. Guests, including children, were captivated by the ceremony, and the atmosphere was filled with warmth and connection.

The bridesmaids, dressed in stunning gold attire, perfectly complemented the rich floral arrangements that adorned the venue. The colours and decor elevated the elegance of the Guild Inn Estate, making it even more breathtaking.
One of the standout moments came during the gold necklace ritual. Stephen, tasked with placing the necklace on Christine, struggled a bit and had to call in some family assistance. The lighthearted struggle led to laughter and joy among the guests, creating an unforgettable moment of humour amidst the emotions.

As the ceremony concluded, Stephen and Christine lit the central candle together, symbolizing their union and the blending of their lives. It was the perfect way to end a ceremony that balanced tradition, emotion, and lighthearted moments so beautifully.

Bridal Party and Couple Portraits at The Guild Inn Estate

After the ceremony, the day flowed seamlessly into the next phase—bridal party and couple portraits at the iconic Guild Inn Park. While Rob took charge of capturing family group photos, I spent some time documenting the lively cocktail hour. Guests were savouring the Guild Inn’s delicious drinks, creating a vibrant and relaxed atmosphere.

When it was time for bridal party photos, the energy was unmatched. Christine and Stephen’s bridal party brought their A-game—excited, cooperative, and ready to help create some truly stunning and dynamic images. Their enthusiasm made the session a breeze, and the resulting photos are both powerful and beautiful.
Once we wrapped up the bridal party shots, we shifted the focus to Christine and Stephen’s portraits. Thanks to their engagement session, they were completely at ease in front of the camera. I always emphasize how crucial engagement shoots are—they’re like a test drive for the wedding day, helping couples feel comfortable and confident. Christine and Stephen’s connection and comfort level were evident in every shot, making their portraits feel authentic and natural.

The Guild Inn Park provided the perfect backdrop, with its grand art structures and fall colours adding depth and vibrancy to the images. As we moved through the park, Christine and Stephen’s chemistry and joy made it easy to capture a mix of romantic and playful moments. The stunning architecture of the Guild Inn combined with the couple’s energy created timeless portraits that beautifully encapsulate their love story.

Unforgettable Reception at The Guild Inn Estate: Choreographed Dance, Heartfelt Speeches, and Award-Winning Nighttime Photos

The Guild Inn Estate’s reception hall was nothing short of spectacular. The decor and flowers, provided by Elite S+S Decor, transformed the space into an elegant masterpiece. Every detail, from the arrangements to the colour palette, was thoughtfully curated, creating a stunning atmosphere that radiated warmth and joy.

Behind the scenes, the incredible work of Bridal Solutions truly made the day seamless. Planners Kim and Rose were absolute stars, ensuring every detail of Christine and Stephen’s wedding ran like clockwork. Their expertise, calm energy, and ability to make everything look effortless were invaluable. From coordinating timelines to handling all the moving parts, their work allowed the couple and their guests to simply enjoy the day without a worry in the world.

Christine and Stephen surprised everyone with a choreographed dance as their grand entrance. The moment was electric, with guests scrambling to capture the performance on their phones. It was the perfect kickoff to an evening filled with heartfelt moments and laughter.

The speeches during the reception were especially memorable. Christine’s friend created a hilarious slideshow highlighting her accomplishments, complete with playful jabs at her attempts to become an influencer. The humour and lightheartedness had everyone in stitches, and it showcased the deep bond she shares with her friends. The Guild Inn’s impressive screen added a touch of modernity, displaying the slideshow beautifully for all the guests to enjoy.

Throughout the evening, Modern Jazz Trio elevated the reception with their incredible performance. Their smooth and sophisticated sound played perfectly between speeches, creating an enchanting ambiance that complemented the night. The trio’s talent added a classy and relaxed vibe, allowing guests to soak in the atmosphere. Their music was the kind that makes you pause to appreciate how it ties everything together—an absolute highlight of the evening.

Midway through the reception, Christine made a wardrobe change, swapping her white sari for a stunning red one adorned with intricate gold details. The vibrant outfit was perfect for the evening portraits, and we took the opportunity to step outside for a signature nighttime creative photo. Using the iconic sculptures in the Guild Inn Park and a mix of artificial lighting, we created an award-winning image that truly encapsulated the magic of the night.
Back inside, the shoe game brought endless laughter and priceless reactions from the couple and their guests. It’s a classic activity that I always recommend for weddings—it never fails to entertain and create moments worth capturing.

Dance Floor Magic: When the Night Came Alive

Most photographers shy away from capturing the energy of a dark dance floor, but for me, it’s a creative playground. The combination of dramatic lighting, uninhibited energy, and guests letting loose creates the perfect setting for unforgettable moments. Christine and Stephen’s party did not disappoint—it was a celebration to remember.
The evening kicked off with two incredible drummers from Bongo & B Entertainment, who instantly set the vibe. Guests flooded the dance floor, drawn in by the infectious rhythm. These guys didn’t just play music; they brought the room to life. Their energy was contagious, and their beats gave me the chance to create some truly unique shots, capturing the electrifying spirit of the night.

And then it happened—a moment I’ll never forget. Michael Jackson started playing, and Stephen stole the show 🕺🏻. With moves straight out of a music video, he commanded the dance floor. I was caught between wanting to simply enjoy the spectacle and knowing I had to capture it all through my lens. Every spin, every moonwalk, and every laugh from the crowd was unforgettable.

The dance floor stayed alive with energy, laughter, and joy until the very end. This party wasn’t just a celebration—it was the perfect way to end the 2024 season on a high note. Christine and Stephen, your big day was the perfect blend of elegance, fun, and creativity, and your party was the icing on the cake. Thank you for letting us be a part of your unforgettable day. 🎉
