Old Mill Toronto Wedding
We’re back!! After a several month long hiatus as a result of all the craziness happening this year, we were finally able to get back behind the camera to capture the sweet and intimate quarantine wedding of Iryna and Dennis at Old Mill Toronto. Despite not being able to host their wedding at Old Mill Toronto as initially planned, Iryna and Dennis simply could not wait to marry each other and start this new chapter of their lives. They decided to go a head with a small intimate ceremony at the Old Mill Chapel, surrounded by their closest family members and friends, followed by a celebratory toast and couple portraits around the gorgeous grounds surrounding the Old Mill property.
Ceremony at the Old Mill Chapel
Iryna and Dennis arrived for their intimate wedding ceremony at Old Mill Chapel together, casually strolling in but quickly getting into action to finalize all the small details before the start of the ceremony. Although very intimate, the ceremony was full of Ukrainian wedding traditions. Dennis laid out the Rushnyk, a long Ukrainian embroidered ritual cloth, at the front of the alter. The Rushnyk is traditionally embroidered with red thread, symbolizing fertility, and often features a pair of birds, symbolizing the bride and groom. At the same time, Iryna and Dennis’ parents were getting ready to greet and bless them with the Korovai just outside the chapel. The Korovai is a large, round, and braided symbolic ceremonial wedding bread, normally decorated with symbolic motifs, and it is offered to the couple as a blessing.
Once Iryna and Dennis were all ready to get married, they walked in together towards the chapel entrance, waiving to their family and friends back home in Ukraine who were watching the ceremony virtually. The parents presented the Korovai and offered their blessings, and after a few congratulatory words, went inside the chapel to take their seat, soon to be followed by Iryna and Dennis who walked down the aisle together. After exchanging vows and rings, lighting a unity candle, and sharing their first kiss as husband and wife, it was time to start celebrating!
Champagne Toast and Portraits at Old Mill Toronto
Following the ceremony at the Old Mill Chapel, Iryna and Dennis stepped out to the patio with their family and friends for a champagne toast, followed by family photos and their couple portraits. We can’t get over how stylish the two looked as we explored the Old Mill grounds together. Iryna was absolutely stunning in her lace dress and purple suede heels, with Dennis looking dashing in his own pink suede shoes, which matched his pink tie and rose boutonniere.
As we made our way from the patio to the wedding garden, we kept stopping along the way for portraits as there are photo opportunity everywhere you look at Old Mill. The architecture here is stunning, and that was the main selling point of Old Mill for Iryna and Dennis, the old Tudor style buildings and brick walls. We made sure to capture the beauty of Old Mill in their portraits, incorporating the brick walls and lush gardens in as many of their portraits as possible, but the real stars were Iryna and Dennis, who were beaming from ear to ear as they finally go to marry each other. Iryna and Dennis, we couldn’t be any happier for you and we simply cannot wait for the celebration!
