Stonewall Estates Wedding

Located in Niagara’s wine region, Stonewall Estates is 120 acres of family-owned and operated farm land, including vineyards, orchards, hop fields, forests, and water views. Arriving at the estate, it’s clear how much love goes into this picturesque property and how excited the family is to share the space with other families, families who come there to celebrate the start of a brand new family at their beautiful Stonewall Estates. And we couldn’t think of a better couple to get married there than Shelby and Adam. From our very first meeting with them we could tell how important family was to them as well. It was a perfect match. The Jewish wedding of Shelby and Adam at the Stonewall Estates was a true celebration of families coming together to shower Shelby and Adam with love and wishes.

Getting Ready at the White Oaks Resort & Spa

From the moment Diego and I arrived at the White Oaks Resort & Spa for Shelby and Adam’s getting ready, we could feel the incredible bond that connected the families and the closest friends (the chosen family), and the immense joy of everyone that helped Shelby and Adam get ready. From steam-ironing the dress, to last minute YouTube tutorials on folding pocket squares and tying ties, everyone was there to help.

Once we started shooting in the morning, the girls’ getting-ready was in full swing, with Sam from My Bloom Beauty already working her magic on the ladies. On the boys’ side though, Adam was still in the shower and the boys were just starting to arrive, but within a quick half-hour, both rooms were full of people coming in and out, getting dressed, putting on final make-up touches, guys showing-off their awesome Canada Day themed socks, while trying to figure out whose clothes are whose, and everyone cracking jokes – it was chaotic, it was wonderful, it was a blast!

First Look and Couple Portraits at the Stonewall Estates

Shelby and Adam had their first look at the Stonewall Estates, just outside of the adorable bridal suite cottage where Shelby was hiding out with her Maid of Honour, waiting for Adam to see her for the first time in her stunning wedding dress from Mona Richie. It was so cute to see them moments before, both so nervous and excited to see each other. And when they finally did, they couldn’t stop smiling, which was absolutely perfect as we went straight into couple portraits, where we got to explore the property together with them. While we didn’t go exploring too far away from the main barn, where the ceremony and reception were going to be held, it definitely felt like quite an adventure. The day was scorching hot so Shelby and Adam got to ride in the back of an ATV to get to some of the photo locations. And yep, Shelby did all that while wearing her wedding gown!!.

Ceremony by the 16 Mile Creek at the Stonewall Estates

Before stepping outside for their outdoor Jewish wedding ceremony with Rabbi Michael Dolgin, Shelby and Adam were joined by their immediate family and closest friends inside the barn at the Stonewall Estates for the Bedeken, the Jewish ceremony where the groom covers the bride’s face with a veil, and for the signing of the Ketubah, a key part of any traditional Jewish marriage. A Ketubah is a special agreement that outlines the rights and responsibilities of the groom to the bride, however, nowadays, the agreement is largely symbolic and is not enforced by North American Jewish couples.

Overlooking the 16 Mile Creek, the outdoor wedding ceremony space gave all the guests a stunning backdrop to enjoy while Shelby and Adam said their I Do’s under the traditional Jewish chuppah. The chuppah is a canopy under which the bride and groom, along with their parents and Rabi, stand during the wedding ceremony. While it was an excruciatingly hot summer day, all the guests received the cutest custom paper fans to help with the heat and shield them from the sun. It’s still no wonder though that as soon as the ceremony was over, all the guests rushed towards the shade and crowded around the cold drinks station to cool off.

Reception at the Stonewall Estates Barn

Before all the guests were seated for dinner inside the stunning rustic barn, which even features a classic bright red roof, all the guests came out again for the horah, a traditional Jewish group dance, where it’s also customary to raise the bride and groom, and sometimes their close family members, up on chairs. The energy of the horah was unreal! Shelby and Adam both went flying through the air on several occasions, but were clearly having the time of their life!

Our absolutely favourite part of the Stonewall Estates barn reception is the sunset views through the barn doors. While the barn was already elegant and beautiful with the gorgeous chandelier hanging at the entrance, the bistro lights twinkling throughout, and the stunning floral decor by Vinifera Floral Designs, the sunset was just something else. As dinner was served and speeches were held, the sunset colours intensified, reaching their peak just as Shelby and Adam went up to say their speech and danced their first dance as husband and wife. It was a real treat for everyone!

Party at the Stonewall Estates Barn

Once DJ Russell from We Make You Dance started spinning, the dance floor filled right up and was bumping all night long. Gotta say, we saw a lot of interesting dance moves that night, including the crowd pleasing heel-click jump and lots of roof raising, and we loved them all! The sillier the dance moves, the better! By the time Diego and I were getting ready to leave, at least one charter bus left the Stonewall Estates to take guests back to the hotel, yet the dance floor was still going strong! Shelby and Adam, what a special group of people you were surrounded by on your big day! Your family and friends were incredible, and we are so grateful we were able to join them in celebrating and capturing your wedding day! Mazel Tov!
